MENOMONIE, Wis. – Junior
Kasha Hughlett (Maple, Wis./Northwestern) placed fourth in the weight throw to pace the UW-Superior women's track and field team in the Warren Bowlus Open at UW-Stout's Sports and Fitness Center on Saturday.
Hughlett threw 14.75 meters, posting a strong finish in the 29-competitor event. Her performance highlighted a day in which the Yellowjackets set eight personal bests. Freshman
Kenzy Kreuzer (Stoddard, Wis./De Soto) achieved three of those personal bests, finishing 10th overall in the 60-meter hurdles in 11.61, 26th in the 60-meter dash in 9.40 and 34th in the 200-meter dash.
Other personal bests came from sophomore
Jeanna Scanlon (Park Falls, Wis./Chequamegon), who was 12th in the mile run in a time of 6:23.33 and freshman
Meagan Berg (Tomahawk, Wis./Tomahawk), who ran 26th in the 3,000 meters in 12:36.84.
In field events, freshman
Kenzie Tuura (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) set personal bests in both the weight throw and shot put. She finished 20th in the weight throw with a mark of 11.19 meters and 25th in the shot put with a toss of 8.65 meters. Classmate
Emma Erickson (International Falls, Minn./Falls) also set a personal best in the weight throw with a 24th-place finish and heave of 10.46 meters.
Sophomore
Brooke Koenen (Superior, Wis./Senior Senior) was the top UWS runner in the 60 meters in a time of 9.26 for 22nd place. She also finished 20th in the long jump with a leap of 3.82 meters and 33rd in the 200 in 33.60.
Jess Newman (Wanamingo, Minn./Pine Island) led a group of three Yellowjackets in the 200 in a time of 32.51 for 33rd place. Newman ran 11th in the 60-meter hurdles in 12:25.
Senior
Nicole Koski (Park Falls, Wis./Chequamegon) clocked 11:38.45 in the 3,000 meters for 21st place in that event. Following Berg, junior
Kennedy Robelia (Durand, Wis./Durand) ran 28th in 13:00.30.
Hughlett placed 17th in the shot put with a mark of 9.96 meters, as well.
Superior returns to action in the UWRF Winter Classic Saturday in Knowles Field House at 11 a.m.
