Hill Two Goals, Lang Six Saves Help Yellowjackets to Shutout Win at Cougars

MORRIS, Minn. -- Freshman forward Kamryn Hill (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) scored on either side of halftime and sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Lang (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) made six saves to preserve a 2-0 shutout of Minnesota Morris for the UW-Superior women's soccer team at Cougar Field on Saturday.

The Yellowjackets improve to 5-3-2 overall with their fifth consecutive win, all in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action, remaining unbeaten in league play.

Hill scored her fourth and fifth goals of the season and Lang made them stand up with three saves in each half for her third clean sheet of the season and seventh of her career.

Hill put UWS on top just 3:02 into the match when she took a feed from sophomore Mya Holmquist (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) and beat Minnesota Morris goalie Bernadette Cienik (2-6-2)for a 1-0 lead.

Lang (5-2-1) then made saves on Harper Toward in the eighth and Kim Peters in the 16th and 28th minutes to help Superior take the advantage into halftime.

Lang turned away attempts on goal from Peters again in the 65th as well as Bella Toth in the 75th and 76th minutes before Hill doubled the lead with 77 minutes on the clock. Sophomore defender Emma Fornengo (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) earned her second assist in as many days picking up a helper on the second Hill tally of the day.

The Yellowjackets outshot the Cougars (2-6-2, 2-2-2 UMAC), 12-6, with Cienik making 11 saves in the Morris net. She gave way to Caroline O'Donnell for the final six minutes of the contest with O'Donnell making one stop.

Hill had four shots on goal, while junior Tori Vosburg (Cloquet, Minn./Esko), sophomore Erika Schneider (Wausau, Wis./Wausau West) and Holmquist all had two apiece.

UWS returns home to NBC Spartan Sports Complex Wednesday at 4 p.m., to host Northwestern.
