SUPERIOR, Wis. --Â The UW-Superior volleyball team got back to its winning ways with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-23 sweep of Northland in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium on Tuesday.

The Yellowjackets received a match-high 14 kills from sophomore
Maiana Stark (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) and 11 more from senior
Alexie Pryd (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove Senior) to improve to 11-9 overall and 7-1 in the league. Junior
Kaylin Plautz (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) added nine kills while senior
Cassy Teff (Foley, Minn./Foley) had seven kills, 19 assists and seven digs.

Pryd completed her ninth double-double of the season with 12 digs. Sophomore
Jenna Anderson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) collected a match-best 21 digs.

UWS hit .228 for the match with 44 kills and 15 errors in 127 attacks and limited Northland (8-9, 3-5 UMAC) to .074 (31-21-135) on the night.

UWS used an 8-2 run in the first set to take a 20-15 lead. The 'Jackets won the last four points in the stretch on kills from Plautz and Teff as well as a pair of Northland errors. Superior won the set on a kill and block from Stark and another LumberJills' error.

UWS jumped out to a 14-9 advantage in the second set, extending it to 17-11 on a
Hailey Atwood (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake) ace and Plautz kill, assisted by
Colleen Claude (Centuria, Wis./Homeschool). Northland shaved its deficit to 20-18, but couldn't get closer as Superior won five of the last six points to take the set, winning it on kills by Teff and Stark.

Superior had a five-point lead late in the third set at 20-15 before Northland rallied to cut tie things at 21-21 on a Rachel Callow ace. Two Stark kills and a Jills' error later, UWS had match point at 24-21. Teff then put the match away with a kill for the victory.

Larissa Fossum led Northland with kills, Callow had 23 assists and Alexa Zadra had 23 digs.
