NEW ULM, Minn. --Â The UW-Superior fought back from deficits of 1-0 and 2-1, to beat Martin Luther in five sets on the road at Luther Student Center on Friday.

Alexie Pryd (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove Senior) and
Cassy Teff (Foley, Minn./Foley) collected their 10th and ninth double-doubles of the season, respectively, helping the Yellowjackets improve to 12-9 overall and 8-1 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference. Superior won by set scores of 22-25, 25-13, 25-27, 25-19 and 15-9.Â

Pryd tallied a match-high 18 kills, adding 21 digs for her double-double, while Teff had 23 assists and 10 digs, just missing a triple-double with nine kills. Junior
Kaylin Plautz (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) and sophomore
Maiana Stark (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) chipped in with 11 kills apiece and sophomore
Jenna Anderson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) paced the defense with a match-best 25 digs.

Superior hit .192 as a team with 54 kills and 22 errors in 167 total attacks. Junior
Kielan LaPlante (Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield) and Plautz had three blocks each for UWS, which tallied a season-best 10 solo blocks.

Superior won the final two sets to complete the comeback. The 'Jackets used a 6-1 run in the latter stages of the fourth set to take a 19-13 lead on the last of four consecutive Martin Luther errors. After trading points to 20-16, UWS scored four in a row on two Stark kills an error and a block by freshman
Marena Saeger (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area). The Knights fended off three set points, but Teff fed Stark for a swing that put the set away, extending the match.

Martin Luther (7-14, 3-6 UMAC) took the first point of the fifth, but Pryd gave her team a 10-5 lead with a kill. She added at another at 11-6 and Stark had a kill of her own that made it 12-7. Freshman
Colleen Claude (Centuria, Wis./Homeschool), who led all players with 24 assists, set up Plautz for the swing that sealed the match five points later.

Lauren Paulsen (15 kills), Lydia Feidt (11) and Grace Kieselhorst (10) paced the Knights offensive in the loss.

The Yellowjackets head to Mankato, Minn., Saturday at 1 p.m., to take on Bethany Lutheran.
