DULUTH, Minn. – The UW-Superior men's soccer team scored three goals in a 6:27 span late in the second half to clip St. Scholastica, 3-2, in non-conference action at Saints Field on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Evan Ridd (Windsor, Wis./DeForest Area) banged home his first collegiate goal on a bouncing ball in the six-yard box from a long throw for the game-winning goal with 88:09 on the clock to complete the comeback.
With the victory, the Yellowjackets (10-3-2) have won for the seventh consecutive time against their bridge rivals and are 7-0-2 in their last nine matches versus CSS.
Freshman
Jake Kidd (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) got UWS on the scoreboard in the 82nd minute when he drilled a shot off the underside of the crossbar and off the back of St. Scholastica defender. Kidd's third goal of the season was assisted by Ridd at the 81:39 mark
Freshman
Ben Limon's (Exeter, England/Exeter College) own first college tally 59 seconds later knotted the match, 2-2. On the goal, Kidd lofted a corner that bounced to Limon in the penalty area. His strike beat Saints' goalkeeper Ben Hallberg (three saves) on the right.
St. Scholastica (5-8-2) built its lead with a goal in each half. Andres Gradilla notched his second goal of the season in the 34th minute on an assist from Jordan Finneran to open the scoring. Keegan Chastey doubled the Saints' advantage with his fifth in the 76th minute from Ken Pryde.
The Saints played with 10 men for the final 1:25 after Nathaniel Campbell drew a red card and was sent off.
Sophomore
Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) made two saves to pick up the victory in the Superior goal, improving to 10-2-2 on the season. Hallberg took the loss, falling to 2-2-0 for the year.
St. Scholastica held a 12-10 edge in shots, but the 'Jackets led, 6-4, in shots on goal. Each team had two corner kicks.
UWS jumps back into Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action Friday at North Central. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
