SUPERIOR, Wis. -- Sophomore defender
Cora Coz (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) knotted the game, 1-1, with 7.7 seconds remaining the second period, but St. Scholastica scored the game-winning goal at 3:01 of overtime to take a 2-1 non-conference victory over the UW-Superior women's hockey team at Wessman Arena on Tuesday.
Coz scored her fifth career goal, cleaning up the rebound of a shot from junior
Jenna Hoops (Woodbury, Minn./Visitation School) just after a UWS power play expired to send the Yellowjackets and Saints into the second intermission tied. Sophomore
Emma Booth (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd) also assisted on the first goal of the season for Coz.
St. Scholastica's Lauryn Hull, though, took a drop pass from Mariah Haedrich and beat Superior goaltender
Rose Beeman (Minneapolis, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's School) for the victory with 2:59 remaining in the extra session.
CSS, which improved to 3-6-1 in the win, got on the scoreboard first when Lisa LaRoche took an Abby Pohlkamp feed at 9:35 of the second and put it past Beeman on the power play for the 1-0 lead.
The Saints outshot UWS, 34-27, with Beeman turning aside 32 shots on the night, including 12 in the second period. Beeman slipped to 2-4-0 with the loss, while Ashlea Arvidson (26 saves) moved to 2-6-1 in the win.
Freshman
