ST. PETER, Minn. – Sixth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus earned its NCAA-leading 12th shutout of the season with a 3-0 victory over the UW-Superior women's hockey team at Don Roberts Ice Rick on Tuesday.

The Gusties (15-2-1) scored once in the second period and twice in the third for the win. The Yellowjackets received 28 saves from goaltender
McKenzie Whalen (East Grand Forks, Minn./East Grand Forks) while the tandem of Maria Widen and Katie McCoy combined for to stop 11 UWS shots for the Gustavus shutout.

Stephanie Anderson stuffed home a rebound at 7:54 of the second period to open the scoring. Kayla Vriezeand Emily Howard assisted on the goal. Brooke Power doubled the lead 13:33 into third as she knocked a bouncing   puck past Whalen on the power play. Molly McHugh and Vrieze picked up assists on that tally.Â

Kristina Press then put the game out of reach with 2:20 remaining when she flipped a shot into an empty net for the final margin. McHugh assisted on the goal.

Superior went 0-for-5 on the power play and held Gustavus to 1-for-6, including killing a five-minute major in the third period.

Tessa Jorde (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln) led the Yellowjackets' offense with three shots on goal and
Emma Booth (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd) had two.

UWS (6-6-1) is back in action Friday at 3 p.m. when it hosts No. 4 UW-River Falls in non-conference play at Wessman Arena.
