SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Superior women's hockey team completed a weekend sweep of Northland with a 3-0 win on Senior Day at Wessman Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Honoring their 11 graduating players – Megan Dulong (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids Senior), Jenna Curtis (Webster, Wis./Webster), Amanda Sergent (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines), C.C. Hayes (Fort Frances, Ontario/Fort Frances), McKenzie Whalen (East Grand Forks, Minn./East Grand Forks), Katie Montrose (Byron, Minn./Byron), Jenna Byfuglien (Roseau, Minn./Roseau), Tessa Jorde (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln), Agnese Apsite (Dreilini, Latvia/Riga Distance Secondary), Myka Sutherland (Champlin, Minn./Home School) and Jamie Davison (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) – in a pregame ceremony, the Yellowjackets recorded their second consecutive shutout of the LumberJills.

Emma Booth (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd) scored her third goal of the season from Jorde at 11:59 of the second period to give UWS the lead, and Superior put the game away in the third period with a pair of goals. Jorde scored her third of the year from Davison and Sutherland at 11:24 to make it 2-0. Freshman Gaby Andreacchi (Thunder Bay, Ontario/St. Patrick) scored her third, unassisted into an empty net, with 13 seconds remaining for the final margin. The goal – which came with Curtis serving a five-minute major penalty for boarding – was the 'Jackets' second short-handed marker of the season.

Whalen (5-10-1) made 13 saves for her third shutout of the season and the fifth of her career. She stopped five shots when the game was still scoreless, including four in the first period.

UWS outshot Northland, 57-13, on the day. The 'Jills' Soleil Archambeault fell to 0-12-0, making 54 saves.

Northland, which dropped to 1-23-1 overall and 0-12-0 in the WIAC, was 0-for-5 on the power play. UWS (9-12-1, 4-4-0-1) went 0-for-4.

With the win, Superior sewed up the No. 4 seed in the WIAC tournament and will host Northland in a first-round game Tuesday at Wessman Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
