Riley Harbaugh's (Banks, Ore./Banks) first career start for the UW-Superior baseball team in an 11-3 loss at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on Tuesday.
Harbaugh took a no decision, throwing six innings of three-hit ball. He allowed one unearned run and four walks while fanning two in 83 pitches.
Christian Garcia (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs),
Ethan Coady (Toronto, Ontario/Etobicoke School of the Arts),
Max Howell (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) and
James Besaw (Oak Harbor, Wash./Oak Harbor) followed with Coady absorbing the loss in his collegiate debut.
The Yellowjackets kept themselves in the game by turning three double plays, but stranded 11 runners on base in the loss. UWS (1-6) erased a 2-0 first-inning Greenville lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, taking the lead in the sixth.
Sam McNosky (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) got Superior on the scoreboard with a one-out single that scored
Isaac Fugere (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East), who stroked a double earlier in the frame. Then, with runners on second and third, pinch-hitter
Gunner Johnson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) reached on a fielding error at shortstop that pushed
Bryce Flanagan (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd Senior) in to tie the game.
Ben Rhodes (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) gave Superior the lead with a single to center field, plating
Jordan Trimble (Victorville, Calif./Grandview (Colo.)). Greenville limited the damage in the inning as Johnson was cut down at the plate on the play for the second out.
The Panthers (5-7) scored in each of the last three innings, getting into the 'Jackets' bullpen late. Coady surrendered the go-ahead runs, working the seventh and eighth. He gave up four runs -- three earned -- with three hits and a walk.
Rhodes went 3-for-4 with an RBI, leading Superior's eight-hit attack.
Dylan Boehm (2-0) grabbed the victory for Greenville, allowing one hit and one run in two innings. Trent Harris, who entered with a one-run lead, threw the final two innings for his second save.
UWS and Brockport play a doubleheader Wednesday at Lake Myrtle Sports Park, beginning with a 2:15 p.m. CT first pitch.
