FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The UW-Superior softball team took its first two loses of the season Wednesday, falling to Wilmington, 5-0, and Brockport, 4-3, at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.

Wilmington scored in the first, fourth and seventh innings on the way to the win in the first game of the day before Brockport trailed 3-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh only to come back for the victory.

Game 1 -- Wilmington 5, UW-Superior 0
Tayler Kraemer (Spring Green, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) went the distance for her fifth complete game of the season, allowing three earned runs with four strikeouts and a walk, but Wilmington (3-4) jumped out to an early lead.

Lindsey Carter hit a one-out double and Hayley Suchlandreached when Kraemer fielded her bunt and threw it away, allowing Carter to come around to score.

The Quakers added a run in the fourth on Bailey Hypes' RBI single to center field and put the game out of reach with three more in the seventh. Mollie Moore's infield single to second base plated McKayla Sites, Carter recorded a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0, and Suchland singled to left, scoring Moore for the final margin.

Jessica Jacobson (Sturgeon Bay, Wis./Southern Door) collected two of the Yellowjackets' four hits in the contest with Norah Schmitz (Waconia, Minn./Waconia) and Tiffany Kirk (McHenry, Ill./McHenry East) tallying the others.

Alexis Stringfellow (1-2) earned the win in the circle for the Quakers with a complete-game effort. She struck out three and hit two batters, recording 10 groundball outs.

Game 2 -- Brockport 4, UW-Superior 3
UWS took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a Schmitz two-run single to right field, scoring Allison Luoma (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) and Kirk.

Brockport cut the deficit in half on a fifth-inning RBI single from Olivia Hayden.

Jacobson hit Superior's second home run in as many days -- a seventh-inning solo shot -- to restore the two-run lead at 3-1, but Brockport came all the way back in the bottom of frame.

Catherine Johnsonled off the inning reaching on an error. Then, with one out and runners on first and third, Madison Evarts' fielder's choice scored Amanda O'Connor. Two batters later, Cameryn Duggan's RBI single tied the game at 3-3.
