Hughlett Leads Charge for Yellowjacket Women

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Emory University Spring Break Classic wrapped up with its second day Saturday, and the Yellowjacket women's track and field team looked to continue its good start to the 2022 outdoor season.
 
Thrower Kasha Hughlett (Maple, Wis./Northwestern) turned in a strong performance in multiple events Saturday. In the discus Hughlett finished just outside the top ten, placing 11th with a mark of 34.03 meters. The heave represented a new personal record. Hughlett also competed in the shot put, placing 23rd with a mark of 9.07 meters.
 
After a good performance Friday, Alexxa DeQuevedo (Silver Bay, Minn./William Kelley) had another good showing in the sprints, crossing the line in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.63 seconds. Her finish was just .14 seconds shy of tying her personal record.
 
Teammates Jess Newman (Wanamingo, Minn./Pine Island) and Kenzy Kreuzer (Stoddard, Wis./De Soto) finished neck-and-neck in the 100-meter hurdles Saturday. Newman came across with a time of 20.17 seconds, while Kreuzer was just behind her with a time of 20.20 seconds.
 
The Yellowjackets return to action Saturday, Apr. 2 when they travel to St. Paul, Minn. to compete in the Hamline University Invitational.
