SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior and Yellowjacket Athletics have announced the 2022 UW-Superior Alumni and Friends Golf Outing is scheduled for Friday, July 22. The event will once again take place at Nemadji Golf Course in Superior. This year's event will run in conjunction with the 2022 UW-Superior Athletic Hall of Fame induction, which will take place Saturday, July 23.
 
"After being away in 2020, it was exciting to be able to hold our event once again in 2021, and we were thrilled with the number of teams that came back and took part. It was like we never missed the year because of the pandemic," said UW-Superior Director of Athletic Nick Bursik. "We've been able to increase the number of teams competing this year and we're looking forward to having people back for another great day of golf in support of our Yellowjacket student-athletes."
 
The 35th annual event will be capped at 32 four-person teams. With a noon shotgun start, the cost to enter the scramble is $100 per golfer and $400 per team. The registration fee includes two carts per team, proximity prizes, gift, and food. A skins game is available at an additional cost. Registration will begin at the golf course at 10:30 a.m. and be followed by the noon tee time.
 
Flag sponsorships (limited to 36 flags) are available at a cost of $125, and you will receive the flag after the event. Hole sponsorship signs are also available for $75.

In recent years proceeds from the Yellowjacket Alumni Golf Outing have gone toward the purchase of skate sharpeners for the men's and women's hockey teams, a shoot-around machine for the men's and women's basketball teams, and new laundry facilities for teams utilizing the laundry room at the Marcovich Wellness Center.

Proceeds also benefit the continuation of the Yellowjacket Athletics branding initiative as well as the creation of historical recognition in the Marcovich Wellness Center.

"We wouldn't be able to do the things we do for our student-athletes without the support of a lot of people, and that includes everyone who is a part of our annual golf outing," Bursik said. "From the golfers who come to play, to the people and businesses that sponsor holes and different parts of the event, to Tom and his staff at Nemadji, it truly is a team effort, but it is all worth it to be able to help create a tremendous experience for our student-athletes."
