MADISON, Wis. -- The UW-Superior women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to Edgewood on a soggy Sunday at Breese Stevens Field.
Edgewood scored once in the first half and three times in the second in the rain and kept the Yellowjackets off the scoreboard, extending Superior's scoreless streak to 346 minutes.
Lauren Clark opened the scoring for Edgewood in the 20th minute with an assist from Leah Doucette before the Eagles scored just 31 seconds into the second half to double their lead. Greta Blau stole a pass from a UWS player and beat goalkeeper
Jenna Lang (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) on the play.
The Eagles added goals from Marley Satranin the 58th minute on a pass from Rylee Brotz and from Kamy Luecke in the 81st. Luecke finished off a short corner taken by Reese Meszaros for the final tally.
Edgewood (4-1-0) outshot the Yellowjackets, 21-7, and 7-2 on shots on goal. The Eagles also held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Kailey Adamski (2-1-0) made saves in the 45th and 83rd minutes from freshman
Meagan Bergerson (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors) and junior
Niya Wilson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior), respectively, to earn the shutout. Lang (0-2-1) stopped three shots in the loss.
Next up, UWS (0-2-2) returns to NBC Spartan Sports Complex on Wednesday to open Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play against Northland. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
