SUPERIOR, Wis. -- The UW-Superior volleyball team made quick work of Hamline for a 3-0 sweep in non-conference action at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium on Wednesday.

The Yellowjackets won, 25-12, 25-18, 25-2, dispatching the Pipers in an hour and 22 minutes.Â

Junior
Kaylin Plautz (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) put down 10 kills in 24 swings with just one error for a .375 hitting percentage to lead the way. Senior
Alexie Pryd (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove Senior) added eight kills and a team-high 16 digs, while freshman
Colleen Claude (Centuria, Wis./Homeschool) earned her first collegiate double-double with 13 assists and 10 digs.

UWS (3-6) posted a season-best .209 attack efficiency with 38 kills and 10 errors on 134 swings.

Superior bolted to a 10-2 lead in the first set, a run that featured kills from four different players -- Plautz, Claude,
Marena Saeger (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) and
Maiana Stark (Germantown, Wis./Germantown). Leading 16-9, the 'Jackets rattled off five straight points, and later closed the set four of the final seven points, finishing on a
Cassy Teff (Foley, Minn./Foley) swing.

UWS used another 5-0 run in the middle of the second set to take the lead for good, extending it to 20-16 on a block by Plautz and Saeger. Two points later, UWS embarked on a third 5-0 stretch to go up two sets. Kills by Stark and freshman
Ella Kapus (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) closed the set.

Hamline scored the first four points of the third set, and later led 17-15 before an error and Kapus kill tied it up. The set was tied three more times prior to UWS getting kills from Kapus and Plautz to take a 23-20 advantage.

Plautz closed the match four points later with a kill, assisted by Claude.

Julianna Boyum and Kennedy Tutak paced the Hamline offense with eight kills apiece.

The Yellowjackets are back in Saturday in a tri-match at St. Scholastica's Reif Gym. UWS takes on te Saints at 3, with Carleton to follow at 5 p.m.
