RIVER FALLS, Wis. -- Madyson Shew scored two goals 10 minutes apart in the second half to lead UW-River Falls in a 3-0 victory over the UW-Superior women's soccer team at Ramer Soccer Stadium on Saturday.
After an opening half that saw sophomore goalkeeper
Jenna Lang (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) keep the Falcons off the scoreboard making six saves, UWRF used goals from Shew in the 49th and 59th minutes to take the lead with freshman
Quinn Clark (Duluth Minn./Duluth East) on in the second half.
River Falls opened the scoring when Shew made a strong individual effort to win the ball in the midfield and charged down the far wing. Shew put a high shot on Clark that the goalie couldn't secure and it sneaked into the net for a 1-0 lead.
The Falcons doubled the lead when Clark punched out Aliviah McClinton's initial shot, but Shew was there to clean up the rebound. Lauren Best also assisted on the play.
UWRF made it 3-0 in the 83rd minute when Lexi Peterson slipped a pass to Hannah Gagnelius on far side of the box, who beat Clark low. Morgan Van Houten also picked up an assist on the goal.
The Falcons (7-0-1) outshot the Yellowjackets, 25-11, for the game, including 15-8 after halftime. Clark made seven saves on 10 shots on goal in the second half.
UWRF's Grace Zellmer stopped five shots -- four in the second half -- for the clean sheet. UWS shots on goal came from
Niya Wilson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) in the 17th minute as well as
Allison Alessi (Shakopee, Minn./Prior Lake) in the 53rd,

Lindrey Schendel (Firestone, Colo./Skyline) in the 79th and
Tori Vosburg (Cloquet, Minn./Esko) in the 87th minutes.
