Phillip Eriksen (Skjetten, Norway/Lorenskog) scored two goals and goalkeepers
Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and
Patrick Sessions (Brighton, England/Brighton, Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College) combined for a clean sheet as the UW-Superior men's soccer team defeated Martin Luther, 5-0, at the MLC Soccer Field on Saturday.
The Yellowjackets scored all five of their goals the first 37 minutes of the match, including senior
Blake Perry's (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) seventh of the season just 1:36 into the contest from freshman
Freddy Watson (Wendover, England/Berkshire College of Agriculture).
Nicolai Stokker (Klokkarstua, Norway/St. Hallvard) made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute with an assist from Perry, and
Josh Bellamy (High Wycombe, England/FAB Football Academy) scored his first of the year in he 29th.
Eriksen notched his fourth and fifth goals of the season six minutes apart in the 31st and 37th minutes to cap the scoring.
Paredes played the first half in net, making two saves in the second and 41st minutes on Grant Gawrisch and Matthew Koelpin, respectively. Sessions did not face a shot on goal in the second half.
UWS (4-2-1, 2-0-1 UMAC) outshot the Knights, 28-6, overall and put 13 shots on frame while holding nearly 70 percent of possession for the match.
Martin Luther fell to 1-6-1 overall and 0-3-0 in the UMAC with the loss. Goalkeeper Adam Rosenbaum went the distance in the MLC net, making eight saves.
Superior returns to the pitch Friday at Crown in a 4:30 p.m., kickoff.
