SUPERIOR, Wis. --Â Three UW-Superior volleyball players tallied double-figure kills to lead the Yellowjackets in a 3-1 win over Bethany Lutheran at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium on Saturday.

Senior
Alexie Pryd (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove Senior) and sophomore
Maiana Stark (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) each recorded 16 kills and junior
Kaylin Plautz (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) added 11 as UWS moved to 3-0 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference with a 25-23, 25-20, 22-25, 25-18 win over the Vikings. The win also pulled Superior's overall record to .500 at 7-7.

Pryd collected 23 digs for a double-double while sophomore
Jenna Anderson (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) had a season-high 34 to pace the defensive effort. The freshman duo of
Lizzy Schmidt (Twin Lakes, Wis./Wilmot Union) and
Colleen Claude (Centuria, Wis./Homeschool) totaled 40 of the team's 46 assists on the day, with Schmidt registering 22.

The Yellowjackets came back to take the first set after trailing, 22-19, on the heels of a 7-0 Bethany Lutheran run. Following a Maddie Meyer kill gave BLC a 23-20 advantage, UWS rattled off the final five points of the set on a pair of Stark kills, a block by
Rilie Kupka (Eagan, Minn./Burnsville Senior) and Plautz, a Vikings' error and a Plautz kill.

UWS earned the lead for good in the second set with a four-point spurt that made it 15-13 on a Pryd kill, assisted by Anderson. The Vikings rallied to within one point at 20-19 late in the set, but the 'Jackets used a 5-1 run to take a 2-0 lead in he match after a Pryd kill and four Bethany errors.

The Vikings erased leads of 12-9, 18-13 and 21-18 to extend the match, winning the third set, but Superior engineered a 10-2 to take a 15-13 advantage in the fourth and did not look back. UWS put the match away, winning four of the last five points on two kills by Stark and two Bethany errors.

Bethany Lutheran, which fell to 3-10 overall and 1-2 in the UMAC with the loss, was led by  Alexis Morsching with 16 kills and 26 digs.
