Maiana Stark (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) recorded 14 kills and senior
Alexie Pryd (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove Senior) added 10 as the UW-Superior volleyball team earned its first sweep of Minnesota Morris in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference era on Friday at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium.

The Yellowjackets won, 25-23, 25-22, 25-21, for just their fourth victory over the Cougars since joining the conference for the 2015 season. With the win, Superior climbed back to .500 at 8-8 and remained perfect in league play, moving to 4-0.

Stark hit a team-high .250 with only six errors in 32 swings, while Pryd registered 13 digs to complete her seventh double-double of the season.

Freshman
Colleen Claude (Centuria, Wis./Homeschool) and senior
Cassy Teff (Foley, Minn./Foley) combined for 29 of the team's 31 assists with Claude collecting 15 to help guide UWS to a .136 team hitting percentage.

The match featured 17 tie scores and eight lead changes with 12 and five, respectively, coming in the first set alone.

UWS rallied from a 20-17 deficit in the opening stanza, sealing the win with an 8-3 run. Teff, Stark, freshman

Kaylin Plautz (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) contributed kills in the stretch to close it out.

UWS, which never lost the lead in the second set, jumped out to a 9-5 with the help of two Minnesota Morris errors sandwiching a Teff service ace. The Cougars (5-10, 2-2) shaved the lead to 12-10 prior to Superior scoring three straight on a pair of errors and a Claude ace.Â

Morris crept to within 19-18, but UWS used a 5-1 to push the lead to 24-19. UMM fought off three set points, but could not get any closer.

Knotted at 19-19 in the third, the 'Jackets closed the sweep with a 7-2 run, which included a block from junior
Kielan LaPlante (Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield) and Kapus along with kills by Pryd and Plautz.

Laura Wellbrock led the Cougars with nine kills, while McKenzie Newton had 24 assists and Sydney Eckhoff 13 digs.
