ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. -- Junior

Mya Holmquist (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) added two goals and junior
Lindrey Schendel (Firestone, Colo./Skyline) one as the UW-Superior women's soccer team ran away from Crown in the second half for a 6-0 victory on Friday.

Goalkeepers
Jenna Lang (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) and
Quinn Clark (Duluth Minn./Duluth East) split time in the net with neither seeing a shot on goal from the Polars as Superior played staunch defense for the clean sheet. The shutout was the 'Jackets' fifth of the season and second consecutive.
UWS (4-3-2, 4-0-0 UMAC) made it 1-0 in the 32nd minute when Alessi's lofted free kick from the near corner of the field found its way over Crown goalie Ellie Taylor and into the far post side netting. Then, with 12 seconds remaining the half, Alessi struck again. From nearly the same location, Taylor managed to get a fist to Alessi's driven ball, but punched it up into the net for a 2-0 UWS advantage.
Three-and-a-half minutes into the second half, Holmquist got into the act when she put a bouncing ball in the net from the top of the six-yard box. Holmquist pushed the lead to 4-0 with a goal from freshman
Kamryn Hill (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) in the 67th minute, and Alessi completed the hat trick in the 83rd from sophomore
Emma Fornengo (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior).
Schendel closed the scoring the 87th minute as her shot from the top of the penalty area took a deflection and beat Taylor low to the right. Alessi earned an assist on the play for her seventh point of the match.
The Yellowjackets outshot Crown, 16-3, overall and 10-0 in shots on target. Taylor took the loss, making four saves on the season. The Polars fell to 4-4-1 and 2-2-1 in the league.
