SUPERIOR, Wis. -- No. 2-ranked UW-River Falls completed a two-game sweep of the UW-Superior women's hockey team with a 9-0 win at Wessman Arena on Saturday.
The Falcons (16-2-0, 7-0-0 WIAC) put the game out of reach quickly with six goals in the first period and added three more in the third.
Megan Goodreau scored a hat trick and tacked on an assist for four points, while Maddie McCollins scored two goals and two assists. Abigail Stow and Bailey Olson also notched multiple-point games with a goal and assist each.
Jordan O'Connor stopped 11 UWS shots for a shutout.
Rose Beeman (Minneapolis, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's School) and
Molly Black (Devils Lake, N.D./Devils Lake) shared time in the Yellowjckets' net with Black making 29 saves in the second and third periods.
C.C. Hayes (Fort Frances, Ontario/Fort Frances), Gabby Andreacchi,
Cora Coz (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) and
Darbie Mattson (Atikokan, Ontario/Atikokan) each fired two shots for Superior.
UWS (8-11-0, 1-6-0) next host Saint Benedict Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m.
