Alexxa DeQuevedo is fifth overall in the pentathlon for the UW-Superior track and field team after the first day of the Warren Bowlus Open at UW-Stout's Sports and Fitness Center Friday.
DeQuevedo scored 2,584 points on the day with her top performances coming in the 60-meter hurdles and high jump, respectively. DeQuevedo finished fourth in both events. She ran 9.80 seconds in the 60 hurdles and cleared 1.44 meters in the high jump.
DeQuevedo was also sixth in both the shot put (8.55 meters) and 800-meter run (2:52.71). She finished seventh in the long jump with a mark of 4.42 meters.
Jane Kautz of UW-Eau Claire leads the nine-competitor pentathlon with 3,258 total points.
The Yellowjackets are back in action Saturday on day two of the Warren Bowlus Open, beginning at noon.
