Schwark, Booth Score Twice as Yellowjackets Blank Finlandia, 7-0

HANCOCK, Mich. – Junior Avery Schwark (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) and sophomore Emma Booth (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd) each scored two goals to lead the UW-Superior women's hockey team to a 7-0 win over Finlandia Saturday at Houghton County Arena.

The Yellowjackets, who earned their second consecutive victory and improved to 45-0-0 all-time against the Lions, scored three goals in the first period and two each in the second and third for the win.

Booth also collected a pair of assists to complete a career-high, four-point night, while junior goaltender Rose Beeman (Minneapolis, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's School) made 12 saves for her for her third shutout of the season and fourth of her career. Schwark's two goals – the first and last of the game – represent a career high for her.

In all, five different Yellowjackets scored goals and nine had points.

Freshman Veda Roeske (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) set up Schwark's first of the night at 6:52 of the first. Classmate Jordann Swingle (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral) made it 2-0 at 12:29 with assists from Brynn MacLean (Wilcox, Saskatchewan/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame) and Jada LeBlanc (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute), before Jenna Hoops (Woodbury, Minn./Visitation School) scored from Booth and Anna Scherling (Rogers, Minn./Rogers) at 13:43.

LeBlanc made it 4-0 at 1:46 of the second period on the power play from Booth and Darbie Mattson (Atikokan, Ontario/Atikokan), and Booth scored from Lucy Drougas (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) and MacLean at 12:41 of the second.

Booth opened the third-period scoring at 7:20 from Scherling prior to Schwark's capper. MacLean and Drougas assisted on that tally, giving MacLean a career-best three helpers on the night.

Laney Pasemko took the loss in the Lions' net, making 60 saves.

The Yellowjackets who went 1-for-5 on the power play, improved to 6-7-0 overall with the win. Finlandia was 0-for-2 with the extra skater and fell to 0-14-0 in the loss.
