SUPERIOR, Wis.—The Yellowjacket men's soccer team was back at home Tuesday night with more conference play, facing off against Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) competitor Crown College.
It did not long for the Yellowjackets (7-2-2, 6-1-0 UMAC) to tally one. Setting the tone for the first half,
Josh Bellamy (High Wycombe, England/FAB Football Academy), just five minutes into the match, would give UWS the early lead. Bellamy would score on a penalty kick to make the score 1-0. The 'Jackets would tally three goals in the first half at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex to win 3-0 over Crown College.
In the thirteenth minute of play,
Jake Kidd (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) would add another one for the Yellowjackets to make the score 2-0. Kidd was able to get the goalkeeper out of position to land a shot to the center of the net from the right side of the box.
Nicolai Stokker (Klokkarstua, Norway/St. Hallvard) was credited for the assist.
Late into the first half, in the 37th minute,
Isaac Becket (Surrey, England/The Sixth Form College Farnborough) would find himself the final goal of the game to advance the score to a 3-0 game.
Joel Thomas (Cardiff, Wales/Islwyn) was credited with the assist.
In the second half things became a little more physical as seven yellow cards were handed out between the two teams. Despite the fouls and opportunities for set plays, neither team found the back of the net in the scoreless second half.
Alex Parades got the start in net for the Yellowjackets seeing only three shots on attempted on goal, and saving the two that were on target for his third shutout of the season.
The Yellowjackets are back in action again tomorrow, Oct. 4 with a quick turnaround taking on non-conference opponent St. Scholastica. Kickoff at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex is set for 7:00 p.m.
