ARDEN HILLS, Minn. --The UW-Superior women's track and field team finished second overall at the Gene Glader Classic, hosted by Bethel, on Saturday.
The Yellowjackets scored 88 points to place ahead of UW-River Falls (87 points) for third. Minnesota Morris was fourth with 68 points, Crown was fifth with 38, North Central sixth was sixth with 29 and Gustavus Adolphus scored four points in seventh place.
The Yellowjackets posted seven total personal records and
Alexxa DeQuevedo (Silver Bay, Minn./William Kelley) won the long jump with a leap of 4.61 meters.
Senior
Kasha Hughlett (Maple, Wis./Northwestern) turned in a personal record in the weight throw of 15.06 meters for second place.
Freshman
Myla Volk (Wabeno, Wis./Wabeno) was second in the triple jump in 12.19 meters, while DeQuevedo also finished third in the high jump in 1.40 meters.
Jess Newman (Wanamingo, Minn./Pine Island) registered a third-place mark in the triple jump at 8.82 meters.
Volk placed fourth in the high jump at 1.30 meters.
Freshmen
Cora Schmitz (Luck, Wis./Unity) and
Colleen Claude (Centuria, Wis./Homeschool) each posted PRs with fifth-place finishes in the 60 meters (8.56 seconds) and 200 meters (27.89 seconds), respectively. Freshman
Brooke Petrich (Keewatin, Minn./Greenway) was also fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 2.37 meters.
UWS next gears up for the UMAC indoor championships, which get underway Friday at Dr. Lydia C. Thering Fieldhouse at 1:30 p.m.
