RIPON, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's track and field team closed out the indoor portion of its 2023 schedule, competing Saturday on the second day of the Ripon NCAA Final Qualifier at the Willmore Center on the campus of Ripon College.

Halle Barker (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) led the charge for the Yellowjacket women, taking first place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:06.73. Barker just missed setting a personal record in the event, coming in just over three seconds off her previous best time. She was the lone Yellowjacket to earn a first-place finish Saturday.
Right behind Barker in the 5,000 meters was
Tea Boerner (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna Senior), who placed third with a time of 21:05.18. She missed tying her personal record by six one-hundredths of a second.

A day after placing sixth in the pentathlon where she collected a personal record 2,730 points,
Alexxa DeQuevedo (Silver Bay, Minn./William Kelley) competed in just one event. The senior earned a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. DeQuevedo was the runner-up with a time of 9.70 seconds. Â

In the field events,
Emma Erickson (International Falls, Minn./Falls) earned a ninth-place finish in the weight throw, reaching a mark of 12.51 meters.

Next up for the Yellowjackets is the outdoor portion of the schedule. The first outdoor competition is the Hamline Invitational in St. Paul, Minn. The event is slated for Saturday, April 1.
