LA CROSSE, Wis. – Coming on the heels of last weekend's runner-up finish at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championships, the Yellowjacket women's track and field team headed for the first of their last-chance qualifier meets. These events, known as an LCQ, give competitors a final chance to improve their marks for the year, with the hope of qualifying for the upcoming NCAA Championships.

Friday the Yellowjackets were at the Eagle Open, hosted by UW-La Crosse, and they were able to bring home another round of personal records.

Yellowjacket Sidney Bader (Milltown, Wis./Unity) established a new personal record in the shot put, with a heave of 10.42 meters.

Staying in the field events, Myla Volk (Wabeno, Wis./Wabeno) had a solid day. She set a new personal record in the long jump, finishing the day with a mark of 4.64 meters. Volk also narrowly missed out on a top-ten finish in the triple jump, placing 11th with a mark of 9.48 meters.

On the track Kenzy Kreuzer (Stoddard, Wis./De Soto) earned a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, coming across the line with a time of 15:01.23. The mark was a new personal record for Kreuzer.

Jessica Newman finished the day with a pair of top-ten finishes, coming in ninth in the 100-meter hurdle preliminary and eighth in the 400-meter hurdles. Janae Widiker (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) set a new personal record in the 200-meter dash.

The Yellowjackets will compete next at the Augstana College Midwest Twilight in Rock Island, Ill. The events will start at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18.
