ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Thursday was the final opportunity for members of the Yellowjacket track and field team to improve their marks enough to qualify for the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The last chance meet, the Midwest Twilight, was being hosted by Augustana College.
Â
The Yellowjacket women had just one competitor in the field Thursday, with freshman thrower
Sidney Bader (Milltown, Wis./Unity) competing in a pair of events.
Â
Bader had a strong showing in the javelin, hitting a mark of 31.77 meters on her first attempt. It would be her longest throw of the day, as she hit 26.72 meters and 24.67 meters on her second and third throws, respectively. She was just over a half meter shy of tying her personal record in the event and finished in 11th place Thursday.
Â
The second event of the day for Bader was the shot put. After fouling on her first attempt, Bader had a heave of 10.35 meters on her second. That would end up being her scoring mark, as Bader fouled on her third attempt, as well. Thursday's mark ended up being just shy of Bader's personal record.
Â
Bader was unable to improve her marks to reach a qualifying position for the NCAA Championships, bringing the 2023 Yellowjacket women's outdoor track and field season to a close.
