LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Wisconsin-Superior volleyball team claimed the 2023 United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, joining 1,332 collegiate and high school volleyball teams who also earned the honor.
 
The Yellowjackets earned a 3.546 grade point average in 2023, improving on their 3.505 mark from 2021-22.
 
This marks an all-time record number of programs honored for their academic achievements by the AVCA. The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.
 
The Yellowjackets secured a second-place finish in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) regular season in 2022. While playing as the No. 2 seed in the post-season, the 'Jackets fell in the championship match of the conference tournament.
