ASHLAND, Wis. – The Yellowjacket men's soccer team was back in conference play Wednesday night, facing off against Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) rival Northland College.
The Yellowjackets and LumberJacks were tied 1-1 after the opening 45 minutes before the Yellowjackets pulled away, scoring five times in the second half to run away with a 6-2 win at Ponzio Stadium.
It did not take long for the Yellowjackets (5-2-2) to strike. Just two minutes into the match,
Jake Kidd (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) would find the back of the net giving the 'Jackets the early lead. The LumberJacks would get themselves on the board to tie the game in the 20th minute and the teams went into the half tied.
Zach Tiemeyer (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee Community) would find the back of the net for the Yellowjackets just five minutes into the second half, with an assist from
Jake Kidd (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior). Less than five minutes later, Kidd would net his second goal of the match, with an assist from Tiemeyer in the 50th minute, extending the Yellowjackets lead to 3-1.
A few minutes later, Northland would land itself an unlucky bounce, making a play that resulted in an own goal and putting the 'Jackets in front 4-1.
Kidd would add another for the Yellowjackets, his third of the game in the 64th minute to make it 5-1. The assist would come from
Nicolai Stokker (Klokkarstua, Norway/St. Hallvard).
In the 75th minute, Northland would make it 5-2 off a penalty kick taken by Keagan Culbertson.
Rounding it off for the Yellowjackets,
Isaac Becket (Surrey, England/The Sixth Form College Farnborough) would net his first of the season in the 88th minute.
Henry Dyson (Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England/Hartpury College) would net the assist for a final score of 6-2.
Alex Parades started in net for the Yellowjackets and made two saves.
Patrick Sessions (Brighton, England/Brighton, Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College) would enter the game in the 74th minute and was not forced to make any saves.
The Yellowjackets return home to face Martin Luther Saturday, Sept. 30. Kickoff at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex is set for 2:00 p.m.
