MINNEAPOLIS, Minn—The University of Wisconsin-Superior women's soccer team hit the road to face Augsburg for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff Wednesday. After a close match with the Gusties last week, the Yellowjacket fall to Augsburg 4-0 tonight, dropping to 0-2-0 in the season.
Augsburg got off to a strong start at Edor Nelson Field. Megan Hansel tallied two of the three goals in the first half, one at the 15-minute mark and the next followed at the 32-minute mark. With just seconds to go in the first half, Abby Rosebur found the back of the net for her first career goal to advance the Auggies to a 3-0 lead going into the second half. Already credited with a pair of assists on the night, Pheobe Alva Rosa added a goal to her total, scoring in the 76th minute to extend the Augsburg lead to 4-0. Clara Fesemyer assisted on the play.
Putting up a physical fight, the Yellowjackets were outshot 17-5 on the night, with three landing on target. Junior
Jenna Lang (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial), making her first start of the 2023 season, took the loss, finishing with six saves.
Next for the Yellowjackets they will be visiting UW-River Falls Tuesday, Sept.12. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at Ramer Soccer Stadium in River Falls, Wis.
