SUPERIOR, Wis. – After losing to Bethany Lutheran Friday, the Yellowjacket men's basketball team were back in action Saturday taking on Martin Luther. Friday's contest against the Vikings started with the 'Jackets falling behind early due to a strong defense output and couldn't find a way to capitalize.
Â
Saturday the Knights took an early 10-2 lead, but the Yellowjackets responded right away after
J'Vaun Walker (Rosharon, Texas/Manvel) and
Josef Fahrenholtz (Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield) took control. From there the 'Jackets took a lead halfway into the first half and never gave it up. After outscoring the Knights 38-29 in the first half, the 'Jackets took advantage of Knight turnovers in the second half and secured the 72-51 victory.
Â
UW-Superior was paced by Walker and
Andrew Kunelius (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia), who finished with 19 and 14 points, respectively. Both players also grabbed four rebounds, while
Joey Barker (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) led the defensive charge with six boards and ten points of his own.
