SUPERIOR, Wis. – Saturday marked an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup with the Yellowjacket men's soccer team and the Vikings of Bethany Lutheran. UWS entered the contest sitting atop the conference rankings with a perfect 9-0 mark, with BLC posting a 7-1-1 record.
Â
The Vikings only suffered one UMAC loss so far in the 2024 campaign, dating back to Sept. 28 where the Yellowjackets emerged victorious by a 2-0 decision. Scoring the ultimate game-winner was
Jake Kidd (Superior, Wis./Superior), striking in the 11th minute of play to extend his lead as the top 'Jacket scorer.
Â
Kidd factored his way into Saturday's match, as well, scoring his 11th goal of the season to aid the Yellowjackets to another 2-0 victory against Bethany Lutheran.

Match Notes
- The first portion of the opening 45 minutes of play was evenly split between both squads, as both teams were presented opportunities to take an early lead. BLC and UWS each rifled three shots at the opposing goalkeeper, but to no avail.
- BLC's Daniel Almeida came close to finding the back of the net, but Harry Ambler's (Reading, England/Little Heath School) positioning was perfect, thwarting Almeida's attempt to take an early goal lead.
- Zach Tiemeyer (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee Community) opened the scoring at the 22nd minute of play. Aaron Shartin-Folkert (Hudson, Wis./Somerset) dished a pass to Josh Bellamy (High Wycombe, England/FAB Football Academy), who crossed it into Tiemeyer who finished a header to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Both squads turned up the intensity after this goal, including Bethany Lutheran's offense, who took five shots in the remainder of the half.
- As the Vikings were looking for the equalizing goal and the Yellowjackets were seeking an insurance goal, the physicality heightened in the second half of play, which saw ten cards issued.
- During the 65th minute of play, Superior's own Jake Kidd (Superior, Wis./Superior) took a feed from Bellamy and beat the Vikings' goalkeeper Nick Lundberg, boosting the 'Jacket lead to two goals.
- The Yellowjackets outshot the Vikings 14-9 in total shots, while also leading in the shots on goal category 11-7.
- Alex Paredes (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) picked up another shutout on the afternoon, making four saves as he collected his fifth of the season and 22nd of his Yellowjacket career.
- Kidd led the offensive category with four total shots, with all of them on frame.
