Yellowjackets Dominate Carleton 68-41

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Yellowjacket women's basketball team delivered a dominant performance against Carleton College on Tuesday night, securing their second win of the season with a commanding 68-41 victory. After their season opener against Marian on Friday, the Yellowjackets hit the road again and took early control of the game. They held a steady lead through all four quarters, ultimately downing the Knights and advancing their record to 2-0. It's a strong start for the Yellowjackets as they build momentum early in the season.

Yellowjacket freshman Haylie Jerde (Isanti, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) led the team's offense with 11 points in just ten minutes on the court. She shot 4-of-6 from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, showcasing her scoring efficiency.

Game Notes
  • Katie Dobson (Black River Falls, Wis./Black River Falls) delivered an impressive performance with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting and a flawless 2-for-2 from the free throw line. She also grabbed six rebounds—five on defense and one on offense—and contributed two assists to cap off her night.
  • Elise Besonen (Ewen, Mich./Ewen-Trout Creek) had a solid performance, scoring nine points on 3-for-9 shooting, including one three-pointer. She was perfect from the free-throw line, going 2-for-2, and added four offensive rebounds and two assists to round out her night.
  • Charlotte Ferstl (Plain, Wis./River Valley) and Elsa Olson (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park) each contributed eight points and an assist to support the Yellowjackets' offensive efforts. Ferstl shot an efficient 3-of-4 from the field, went 2-for-2 at the free throw line, and added two rebounds. Olson followed with a 3-of-5 performance from behind the three-point line, hitting 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, and grabbed three rebounds.
  • The Yellowjackets took advantage on of Carleton's turnovers. 
The Yellowjackets return to action for their home opener against Macalester on Saturday, Nov. 16, with tipoff scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium.
