NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Yellowjacket men's cross country team saw action at the NCAA Division III North Regional Saturday. UWS once again emerged victorious at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championship race this season, making it their eighth title won in program history.
The north regional, hosted by Carleton College, featured yet another tough pool of nationally and regionally ranked teams in all of NCAA Division III. Despite this, the Yellowjacket men finished as the top UMAC team Saturday, taking 23rd place while garnering 652 team points.
Race Notes
- As he's done a lot this season, Zach Reese (Zimmerman, Minn./Spectrum) led UW-Superior in today's race. He finished the 8k course with a 26:50.0 race time, leading both his teammates and the UMAC on the afternoon in 104th place.
- Dylan Uitto (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) came in second for the 'Jackets, snagging 124th place after crossing the finish line at 27:19.5.
- 132nd place saw Aidan Doherty's (Wild Rose, Wis./Wild Rose) name next to it after finishing the 8k race in 27:32.6 before Maverick Hoogland (Catawba, Wis./Phillips) came in 143rd with a race time of 27:48.3.
- Finishing the day with a 27:55.0 race time was Ben Plackner (Bovey, Minn./Greenway), securing 149th. Kieran Johnson (South Range, Wis./Northwestern) and Jayde Canfield (Prescott, Wis./Prescott) weren't far behind Plackner, finishing in 28:06.8 and 28:25.7, respectively. Johnson grabbed 157th place, while Canfield garnered a 164th slot.
- Spearheading Saturday's race was Mohammed Bati from Augsburg, finishing in 24:20.6, placing a 10-second gap between the second finisher, Aidan Matthai of UW-La Crosse.
The Eagles of UW-La Crosse logged a collective score of 40 to claim the team title.
