DULUTH, Minn. – After a lengthy match with Twin Ports rival St. Scholastica Friday, the Yellowjacket women's tennis team was back on the court less than 24 hours later Saturday, playing host to UW-Stevens Point.

The Yellowjackets entered play Saturday looking to earn their first win of 2024, and in the process bring their record back to the .500 mark, but the Pointers had other ideas.

Saturday saw the Yellowjackets come out strong in singles play, but doubles play would be their undoing, as Stevens Point swept the doubles matches on the way to a 6-3 win over the Yellowjackets at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center (DISC).

The Yellowjackets' record now stands at 3-5 on the year.

Andreina Tejada (Quito, Ecuador/Isaac Newton) had a strong outing Saturday, getting the win at No. 2 singles over Jordan Scharf of UW-Stevens Point 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).
Claudia Curtis (Lake Mills, Wis./Lake Mills) was also victorious in straight sets Saturday, defeating the Pointers' Chloe Leithold 6-3, 7-5.

Brooke Wilfong (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech) found herself in a thrilling match at No. 6 singles. After dropping the opening set to Stevens Points' Emma Rockweiler by a 6-1 score, Wilfong came roaring back to take the second set 7-5. She blew Rockweiler away in the tiebreaker, winning 10-3 to get the win.

- Tejada and Maya Haupt (Nuertingen, Baden-Wuerttemberg/Hoelderlin Gymnasium Nuertingen) once again teamed up at No. 1 doubles, where they fell to Stevens Points' top pairing of Sharf and Tristin Jantz by a score of 8-5.
- Jessi Kukowski (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown) and Curtis teamed up at No. 2 doubles, but they fell 8-6.
- Stella Harris (Negaunee, Mich./Negaunee) and Katie Jonas also lost by an 8-6 score at No. 3 doubles.
- Haupt (No. 1 singles), Kukowski (No. 4) and Giulia Araujo de Barros (No. 5) dropped their singles matches.
- With her singles win, Tejada is now 5-2 on the year.
- The win for Curtis snapped a four-match losing streak in singles play.
- Wilfong has won four of her last five singles matches.
The Yellowjackets are back in action Sunday when they host Concordia College of Moorhead, Minn. The opening serve is set for 10 a.m. at DISC.
