MINNEAPOLIS – After having a long win streak snapped in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against UW-Stout, the Yellowjacket softball team is hoping to start another one.

The 'Jackets got back in the win column with a marathon, extra-innings win in Tuesday's second game, and have now won two in a row, following Friday's 16-0 rout of North Central at Xcel Field Park.

With the win the Yellowjackets improved to 15-7 overall and are a perfect 4-0 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play.

The Yellowjackets, who pounded out 13 hits on the way to the victory, blew things open with a nine-run third inning.
Leading the way at the plate for the Yellowjackets was
Indigo Fish (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior), who went 3-for-3, scored twice and drove in three. She also drew a walk, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Five Yellowjackets had multiple hits in the game, which ended after five innings.

Samantha Swartz (Antigo, Wis./Antigo) got the start in the circle and earned the win, allowing two hits in three innings. She struck out four on the way to picking up her sixth win of the season. She is 4-1 on the year.

Game Notes
- The 16 runs tied a season high for the Yellowjackets, who also scored 16 against Northland March 23 and against Crown last Saturday.
- A four-run first inning put the Yellowjackets in front before North Central had an at bat. Fish plated two of the runs with a single to right.
- MyKenzie Leccia (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) drove in two runs in the second.
- In the nine-run third, Leccia drove in three more with a double down the left field line.
- Zoe Thomson (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson) and Carly Stuckmayer (Delano, Minn./Delano Senior) also had two RBI each in the big third inning.
- The final runs of the game scored when Fish doubled in the fourth.
- Baylee O'Donnell (Mendota Hights, Minn./Richfield) pitched the final two innings, walking two and striking out five without allowing a hit.
- Stuckmayer, Thomson, Fish, Jenna Hoops (Woodbury, Minn./Visitation School) and Karen Balabon (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) all had multiple-hit games.
- Seven different Yellowjackets had hits in the game.
- The Yellowjackets have posted double-figure run totals nine times in 2024.
Next up for the Yellowjackets is a doubleheader with the Rams Saturday. The first pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Xcel Field Park.
