MORRIS, Minn.—The Yellowjacket softball team was back for day two of the weekend series against Minnesota Morris on Sunday. Facing the Cougars at Holmberg Field for a doubleheader, the Yellowjackets dropped both games. The Cougars sweeping the 'Jackets in the weekend series. After today's 2-0 and the 8-3 losses, the Yellowjackets are now 17-10 overall and 6-3 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC).
Game One Notes
- Morris would score the two runs of the game in the first and the fifth inning.
- Carly Stuckmayer (Delano, Minn./Delano Senior), Zoe Thomson (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson), Indigo Fish (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) and MyKenzie Leccia (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) would be the only four Yellowjackets to get a hit.
- Getting the start in the circle for the Yellowjacket was Samantha Swartz (Antigo, Wis./Antigo). Swartz would be credited with the loss; her record now sits at 4-2.
- Between the two teams, there was a total of 18 strikeouts.
Game Two Notes
- The Yellowjackets would score their first run in the 6th inning. Ellie Macal (Winona, Minn./Cotter) would reach on an error by the third baseperson, advancing Thomson to third and scoring Larrisa Snyder.
- In the 6th inning, Fish would hit a sacrifice fly to the left field scoring Thomson. Fish would be credited with the lone RBI for the Yellowjackets.
- For the Yellowjackets in the 7th inning, Stuckmayer would advance to third, and Camille Wikstrom (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) would score off a wild pitch.
- Getting the start in the circle for the Yellowjackets was Bella Garley (Albuquerque, N.M./Porter (Tex.)). Garley would pitch 5 innings and be credited with the loss. Garley's record is now 7-5.
The Yellowjackets are back home on Tuesday, April 23 for a UMAC doubleheader with Martin Luther. The first game at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex is set for 4 p.m. and the second at 6 p.m.
