MORRIS, Minn. – After defeating Crown College Friday evening, Saturday proved to be a big match for the Yellowjacket volleyball team, traveling to James Gremmels Court to face Minnesota Morris. The Cougars came out on top in the first two sets and looked to earn a sweep, but the Yellowjackets powered back in the third and reverse-swept Minnesota Morris, ending the weekend 2-0.

Match Notes
- UMM took an early lead in the opener and never looked back, claiming a 25-20 win in the first. Superior received offensive production from Katlyn Jones (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer), Marena Saeger (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) and Makenna Hohbein (Holdingford, Minn./Holdingford) early.
- An early four-point rally saw the Cougars lead 7-2. The Yellowjackets attempted to obtain a lead but couldn't muster a rally, dropping the second 25-13.
- The third set was highly contested early. Superior Kyndra Peterson (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale) and Hohbein began with kills before Sidney Bader (Milltown, Wis./Unity) sent one down during a four-point rally. The Cougars came within one at 15-14 but three points, two of which coming off the swing of Maddie Hunter (Anoka, Minn./Anoka), helped create a rally that forced a fourth set, winning 25-18.
- Both squads volleyed the lead and points early on but couldn't take a lead of more than four points. That was until Hohbein garnered a kill, then a pair of blocks from Peterson and Hunter gave UWS a five-point advantage. From there they found their footing and forced a fifth, taking the fourth 25-14.
- The Cougars and Yellowjackets began the fifth set trading blows, sitting at 3-3. Peterson and Hohbein collected kills while Minnesota Morris stayed within two at 8-6.
- A Yellowjacket block began a three-point rally, and then kills from Peterson and Hunter helped seal the deal as the 'Jackets logged the reverse-sweep of the Cougars.
- Defensively Savanna Hering (Superior, Wis./Superior) had 27 digs, while Colleen Claude (Centuria, Wis./Homeschool) dished up 29 assists. Offensively, Hohbein (14), Peterson (13) and Bader (12) led the Yellowjackets.

Tuesday the Yellowjackets are back in action, taking on St. Scholastica as they travel across the bridge for their Dig Pink match. The opening serve is set for 7 p.m. inside the Burns Wellness Commons.
