SUPERIOR, Wis. – Following a pair of exhibition games, the Yellowjacket women's hockey team commenced their season Friday, playing host to Lake Forest College for a pair. Friday's contest fell in favor of the visitors after a four-goal second, lifting the Foresters to their first victory of the season.
Game Notes
- A Yellowjacket penalty allowed the Foresters to strike first at 5:38, courtesy of Jasmine Kohl.
- In the second period, three different players found the back of the net, including Kohl collecting her second of the game.
- Defensively Brooke Bugos (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) and Maya Anderson (Cambridge, Minn./Totino-Grace) blocked a pair of shots on the evening.
- The 'Jackets won 15 faceoffs throughout the night, with Ashton Parnell (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) accounting for 10 of them.
- Parnell also led in total shots with five. Aylie Dahl (Beaumont, Alberta/John Maland) logged four of her own, while two Yellowjackets finished with three.
- Maddie Wostrel (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) took the loss in her first collegiate start, making 19 saves.
- Superior obtained the advantage in total shots by a 26-24 margin.
The 'Jackets are back at it tomorrow, taking on the Foresters at 2 p.m. inside Wessman Arena.
