SUPERIOR, Wis.- The UW-Superior men's soccer team looked to cap off Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play undefeated after clinching the regular season championship Friday. The 'Jackets entered the contest with an 11-0 record in UMAC play and improved to 12-0 after a convincing win 8-0 over the Martin Luther College Knights.
Match Notes:
- Bryce Boldt (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca) found the back of the net unassisted in the fifth minute of play.
- Also scoring in the sixth minute of play was Joel Thomas (Cardiff, Wales/Islwyn). He was assisted by Callum Greenan (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East).
- In the 15th minute of play Alfie Hudd (Exeter, England/Exeter) scored on an assist from Thomas.
- Boldt added his second goal of the match in the 17th minute assisted by Seth Davidson (Sartell, Minn./Sartell) and Eli Benson (Superior, Wis./Superior).
- Kyle Massingham (Nuneaton, England/Future Pro College) scored in the 37th minute on an assist from Jimmy Jamieson (Somerset, United Kingdom/Millfield School).
- In the 52nd minute of play Freddy Watson (Wendover, England/Berkshire College of Agriculture) opened the scoring in the second half finding the back of the net unassisted.
- Jordan Aultman (Esko, Minn./Cloquet) scored his third goal of the season in the 76th minute assisted by Adam Schmidt (Fargo, N.D./West Fargo Sheyenne).
- In the 84th minute of play Jamieson added his second goal of the match on an assist from Aultman and Joe Eklund (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld).
- Patrick Sessions (Brighton, England/Brighton, Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College) notched a clean first half making two saves, while Luke Lockman (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) added a clean second half making one save.
Superior is back in action Wednesday hosting the Crown College Polars in the semifinal round of the UMAC tournament. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 5 pm at SCCU Stadium.
