Yellowjacket Men Take on St. Olaf in NCAA Tournament Opener

INDIANAPOLIS – Saturday saw the Yellowjacket men's soccer team continue its stranglehold over the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), as they defeated Bethany Lutheran 2-1 in the conference championship match. It marked not only the program's ninth straight postseason title, but yet another trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Monday morning the NCAA hosted its selection show, and UW-Superior learned they will be traveling to Northfield, Minn., as they take on No. 4 St. Olaf in Saturday's first round. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Rolf Mellby Field.

The Yellowjackets currently lead the nation in scoring offense (3.67 per match), goal differential (77 goals scored, 23 goals allowed), points per match (10.76), and total goals (77). Additionally, UWS stands at 16-6 overall with a four-match winning streak.

Freshman Seth Davidson (Sartell, Minn./Sartell) and senior Jake Kidd (Superior, Wis./Superior) lead Superior with 15 and 13 goals, respectively, while goalkeepers Patrick Sessions (Brighton, England/Brighton, Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College) and Luke Lockman (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) stand with records of 8-0-0 and 3-0-0.

Both Lake Forest and Luther also make up the four-team regional.
