EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Yellowjacket men's hockey team opened Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play Friday evening, traveling to the Hobbs Ice Center to take on the Blugolds of UW-Eau Claire.

Game Notes
- Superior played well in the first half, but a single mistake cost them as they went down 1-0 off a goal from Dayne Hoyord.
- The Blugolds tacked on another in the second, extending their lead to 2-0 heading into the final frame.
- A pair of goals for UWEC in the third period sealed the deal, as the 'Jackets fell 4-0 in their conference opener.
- Jan Skorpik (Brandýs nad Labem, Czechia/OA Prague) took the loss in net, while Max Gutjahr added win number two under his belt.
- Matt Danziger (Potomac, Md./University of Nebraska High), Carson Riddle (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon) and Ikki Kogawa (Chiba, Japan/Collingwood Collegiate Institute) each took three shots for UWS, while four others finished with a pair.
- The Yellowjackets were 0-4 on the power play, while the Blugolds converted on one-of-three chances.

Superior returns home Saturday as they host another conference game with UW-Stevens Point. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Wessman Arena.
