SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket men's hockey team opened Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play Friday, falling to UW-Eau Claire 4-0 inside the Hobbs Ice Center. Saturday the 'Jackets returned home to Wessman Arena and faced the Pointers of UW-Stevens Point in back-to-back tough conference matchups.

Following a shutout on Friday, Superior fired three goals in the first period and added another in the second to emerge victorious over UWSP 4-2.

Game Notes
- At 7:23 Daniel Rozsival (Chicago, Ill./North Shore Country Day) sent a pass to Evan Axell (Plymouth, Minn./Armstrong), who fired a shot from near the blue line to break the scoring open.
- Later in the period, Rozsival dispossessed a Stevens Point defender before depositing a backhanded shot in the back of the net at 10:01.
- The third goal for the Yellowjackets was a dandy, as Zach Lussier (Brossard, Quebec/College Charles-Lemoyne) and Roope Tuomioksa (Tuusula, Finland/Mäkelänrinne Sports High) developed a nifty misdirection play to beat Alex Proctor, extending their lead to three.
- In the second UWSP got on the board, as Ryan Hintz flung a shot into the crease that Owen Dean tipped, making the score 3-1.
- The third period was near its end until Austin Paul (Saint-Lazare, Quebec/École Secondaire du Sommet) lit the lamp with under a minute to go. Chris Ishmael (Oakville, Ontario/Abbey Park Secondary School) was credited with the assist at 19:03.
- UWSP took one back in the third to make the score 4-2, but the final horn rang inside Wessman Arena where the Yellowjackets leveled their WIAC record at 1-1.
- Shots were 37-32 in favor of Superior.

The Yellowjackets stay home next week as they host the annual Superior Showdown presented by Subway. Their first opponent comes against Dubuque, scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Wessman Arena.
