SUPERIOR, Wis. – Friday the Yellowjacket men's hockey team played host to the annual Superior Showdown, taking on the Spartans from the University of Dubuque. Following the first game, which saw Lawrence University take down St. Scholastica 5-0, the 'Jackets took the ice and started on the right foot, but Dubuque gained the upper hand and rolled to a 4-1 win.

Game Notes
- The Spartans took a 1-0 lead in the first after Zach Burfoot deposited a goal past Jan Skorpik (Brandýs nad Labem, Czechia/OA Prague). Nikita Borodayenko and Zach Cline gained assists on the scoresheet.
- Two more goals came from Dubuque in the second and third periods. In the second, Max Erstad lit the lamp for a 2-0 lead before Cline fired one to extend the Spartan lead to three.
- In the third period at 13:01, Daniel Rozsival (Chicago, Ill./North Shore Country Day) broke the scoring for Superior to show some life at 3-1, but in under a minute, Borodayenko fired a goal of his own after assisting on every other UD goal.
- Skorpik took the loss in net, making 18 saves on the night. His record falls to 4-2.
- Rozsival led with four total shots on the night, while Chris Ishmael (Oakville, Ontario/Abbey Park Secondary School) won 10 faceoffs on the night.

The Yellowjackets will play in the consolation game Saturday, facing St. Scholastica for the third time on the campaign. The opening faceoff is set for 3 p.m. inside Wessman Arena.
