NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Yellowjacket women's basketball team was back on the road Saturday to face another MIAC opponent this time being Carleton. In this game, the 'Jackets were able to secure their first win of the season, beating the Knights 52-49.  

Game Notes:  

• UWS and Carleton traded buckets throughout the first half held an advantage larger than three.  

• Charlotte Ferstl (Plain, Wis./River Valley) gave UWS the lead heading into the break as she made a layup with 19 seconds remaining and put the 'Jackets 27-26 after 20 minutes.  

• In the third quarter, the 'Jackets jumped ahead by as many as nine points behind buckets from Elsa Olson (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park) and Hope Carlson (Duluth, Minn./Proctor) and giving the 'Jackets a 42-35 lead heading into the final frame.  

• The Knights battled back into the game in the fourth, getting the UWS lead as low as two but a three pointer from MyKenzie Leccia (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) and clutch free throw from Olson sealed the victory.  

• Ferstl led the way offensively with 16 points while Olson and Carlson had nine and eight respectively. Ferstl and Carlson each had nine rebounds in the contest.  

• UWS shot 33.3 percent from the field while Carleton shot 28.6 percent.  

• Yellowjacket head coach Eveline Parsons picked up her first head coaching win in Saturday's contest.  

The Yellowjackets are back in action on Wednesday as they cross the bridge to take on St. Scholastica. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Reif Gym in Duluth.
