Women’s Soccer Captures Fifth Straight UMAC Championship

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Saturday marked the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championship match for the Yellowjacket women's soccer team. After knocking Bethany Lutheran off on the road for the second time this season in the semifinals, the 'Jackets would have to face a team they drew twice with in the regular season, the Eagles of Northwestern.

The kicker? The match would take place on the road at Reynolds Field.

The 'Jackets struck gold in the 54th minute of play, and it would prove to be the deciding goal of the contest, propelling them to their fifth straight postseason championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Match Notes
  • The 'Jackets defensive efforts came up big in the first half, allowing just two shots to Northwestern.
  • In the second half Brynne Crystal (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) sent a pass to Kamryn Hill (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld) who rifled a shot past the Eagles defense and found the back of the net, logging her 11th of the season.
  • Niamh Larson (Brookfield, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) led with six total shots, while Hill, Crystal and Brook Judnick (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) followed with two apiece.
  • Quinn Clark (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) made a pair of saves in the match, improving her wins to 10 on the campaign.
  • Hill was named MVP for her game-winning goal.

Superior has received the UMAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. They will find out their next opponent Monday as they watch the NCAA Selection Show, scheduled for 10 a.m.
