Cobbers Sneak Past Yellowjackets 3-1

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Friday evening the Yellowjacket women's hockey team traveled to the Moorhead Sports Center, opening their first-of-three games with the Cobbers of Concordia College in the 2025-26 season. The 'Jackets were looking to snap their losing skid of five while the Cobbers were looking to make it two in a row on their home ice.

After a scoreless opening frame both teams found the back of the net in the second, but Concordia struck twice more to take down Superior 3-1.

Game Notes
  • The Cobbers got their goal at 7:22 in the second period courtesy of the power play, but the Yellowjackets countered with a power play goal of their own just two minutes later.
  • Kendal Gustavsson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) deposited her fifth goal of the season after receiving helpers from Addison Fee (Crookston, Minn./Crookston) and Maya Anderson (Cambridge, Minn./Totino-Grace) at 9:34.
  • Later in the period Jaclyn Lloyd sent one to the back of the net to give the Cobbers a 2-1 edge.
  • The 'Jackets pulled their goaltender Jayda Moyer (Albert Lea, Minn./Albert Lea) in the final minute of play for an extra attacker, but Concordia was able to dispossess Superior and Memphis Mertens scored an empty-net goal to secure the victory.
  • Anna Scherling (Rogers, Minn./Rogers) and Emma Kligora (Milton, Wis./Milton) won five and four faceoffs on the night, respectively.
  • Moyer made 26 saves on the night as she takes the loss.

The Yellowjackets and Concordia have a quick turnaround, as they return to the ice Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. puck drop.
