SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Yellowjacket men's basketball team played host to the 22nd ranked UW-Eau Claire Blugolds on Saturday afternoon. This meeting between the former WIAC foes was taken by the Blugolds by a final score of 68-49.  

Game Notes: 

• The Blugolds jumped out to an early eight-point lead, but two buckets from Evan Bennett (Superior, Wis./Superior) cut the lead to four.  

• The 'Jackets were able to get the Eau Claire lead as close as three off points from Hayden Quimby (Menasha, Wis./Xavier) and Bennett, but the Blugolds were able to control the rest of the first half going into the break with a lead of 33-23.  

• In the second half Eau Claire was able to build their lead leading by as many as 28 points.  

• A run of three pointers from Kenny Garth (Kenosha, Wis./Westosha Central) and Nick Nordaune (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) got the Blugold lead under 20 to end the game.  

• Bennett led the 'Jackets in scoring with 18 points while Landen Thomer (Mosinee, Wis./Mosinee) pulled down a team high 12 rebounds.  

• Eau Claire displayed a balanced scoring attack with three players scoring ten points each those players being Kenji Scales, Xavier Lewis and Joey Butz.  

The Yellowjackets return to the court next Saturday as they host Bethel. Opening tip-off between the Royals and Yellowjackets is scheduled for 1 p.m.
