SUPERIOR, Wis.—The Yellowjacket men's basketball team completed their last home game of the regular season against the Crown College Polars. Â
The Yellowjacket managed to allow just one Polar to reach double-digit points. Despite being down at half, the 'Jackets were able to claw their way back and defeat the Polars by a score of 51-39.  Â
Game NotesÂ
-
The Polars started out hot, scoring an unanswered seven points to start the game. The Yellowjackets tied up the score thanks to a layup from Reid Johnson (Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield), who also got the 'Jackets; first points of the game.Â
-
The second half would be all Yellowjackets. Rocco Paulson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) would start the scoring with a jumper, followed by an Andrew Beers (Slinger, Wis./Slinger) three-pointer, making the score 25-20. Â
-
Crown would go on to regain a five-point lead, but not before the 'Jackets started to creep their way back into the lead. With a good free throw from Joey Barker (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior), a deep three from Johnson, and a score-tying shot behind the arc from Barker, the Yellowjackets maintained their lead.Â
-
UWS would continue to push points as they ended the game with a 12-point lead. Johnson led the Yellowjackets with 14 points, who was closely followed by Paulson with 12. Coming off the bench and scoring ten was Barker, who added three steals and four rebounds. Â
The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) now sees another four-way tie of first play after Wednesday's contests. Saturday's games in the UMAC will be massive, as the Yellowjackets hit the road to play against Minnesota Morris Saturday. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. at James Gremmels Court.Â
