SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket men's soccer team entered Friday's contest without a regular season win, facing a slew of tough non-conference opponents. The competition wouldn't fade as they played host to St. Olaf, a team the Yellowjackets have potent history with, specifically in the NCAA Tournament.
The Oles came into the contest ranked as the No. 22 team in all of NCAA Division III. They scored 17 goals and had allowed just two, and the 'Jackets were looking to flip the script.
After allowing an early goal to the Oles in the fifth minute, the Yellowjackets fired two goals in the first half before allowing one with under a minute to go until halftime. After the break, St. Olaf drew a red card in the 55th minute and the Yellowjackets utilized that momentum in their favor, converting on a penalty kick that proved to be the game-winner.
